Paris, J t'aime

We arrived and had an amazing Parisian breakfast of Jus d'orange, croissants and café creme. It was amazingly good.

I had only been in Paris 10 minutes by this point but I loved it already.

We took the metro to our hotel which was right by the Moulin Rouge, also in the Red Light District.

At the Musee' D'orsay

Notre Dame!
Joan being a tourist.

This was a particularly great moment because not only was I seeing the Eiffel Tower, but we had taken the metro to Trocadero and knew it was close by but Joan had turned the corner before me and said "I think you're going to see something" and sure enough there she was!
Pretty much on top of the world at this point.
In the district of St.Michel near Notre Dame.

We had dinner at this great restaurant, Pizza Marzano, not exactly French cuisine but French chefs made it so...there you go. We then met up with my friend Rudy, a friendly Parisian, and went to an Irish Pub. It was a really great time, the live singer was wonderful, the Guinness was on tap and Rudy and his friends were great hosts.

We made it back to our hotel in one piece and slept soundly after our long day in Paris.

Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind

Ah Parí, the city of lights! I am going next month, however will just be there for one night. Joan and I are planning to do as much as we can in 24 hours even if it means not sleeping. It has always been my dream (as well as millions of others) to go to Paris and experience it to the fullest. I plan to go back again this summer, hopefully with more time (and money) to spend. Since I will only be there for one day, do my readers have any suggestions on what I should do first and where I should go? Obviously Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower are going to be seen, but what else should I do to get the feel of the true Parisian? I plan to take hundreds of photos while I am there to share with you all. If you think this is a daunting task then here is my next question.
In two weeks or so, Joan and I are going to London. Here's where it gets hard, I'll only be in the city center for 2 hours. Yes, 120 minutes approximately. I am not so naive as I do know it is impossible to see much of anything in that time period but I am willing to meet the challenge. You see, Joan has to go for work, he found tickets with Ryanair for 20 €uros so he got me a flight as well. I am very grateful to even be setting foot on London soil however I know I will be deeply depressed when my time is up. What should I do in two hours? Grab a quick bite of fish and chips, snaps some photos, pick up a British Mag and head out the door? Probably all I will have time for, but if you have any suggestions do let me know.

Next week, Joan and I are going to Oporto again, for those of you who read my post about Oporto before, you know how well that went. This time, we are staying one night. He had to be there two days consecutively so his boss, Montse was kind enough to suggest he bring me and we make a trip of it. As much as I wish this overnight trip was in London, beggars can't be choosers. So, anyone have any ideas about where to go and what to see in Oporto? Research on the Internet only gets me so far. I am excited that we are staying at the same hotel we worked at before, (the very luxurious one where I had the great lunch) and we found out it has a spa on the top floor with infinity pools and saunas for under 10 €uros, so Joan and I will make use of that. As you can see I will be adding to my frequent flyer miles, even if it is with Ryanair.

Joan just left for London, he will home tonight though which is always nice. I hate when he is away overnight, I can never sleep. As usual I have a lot I need to do but even more I want to do. Like check out blogs such as this one and this one.

Enjoy your day wherever you may be.

A new change, a new day

I feel as if I have seen everything there is to see here in Dublin. We´ve gone to the touristic places, I´ve been in every shopping center there is and had coffee and hot cocoa in almost every cafe´. We´re thinking about going out of the city and seeing the Irish countryside; maybe the Wicklow Mountains. The days are flying by, we leave for Spain Tuesday afternoon. His parents are flying in on Saturday, we will go to lunch and then they will catch their flight back to Barcelona. They will be flying in from Las Vegas, I´m sure they had a great time, I can´t wait to see the pictures! Joan and I are thinking for my 21st we should go to Vegas. I know anything will be better than my last birthday.

Joan had his exam today so I wandered around Debenhams Department Store. It is enough to keep a girl occupied for an hour and a half which is exactly how long it took Joan to finish his exam. It was raining (as usual) when we wanted to actually go do something fun, so we ended up taking the bus back home. It wouldn´t be so bad to stay in the flat except the Internet isn´t working and it makes downloading movies impossible. We did go to the cinema to see Charlie Wilson´s War and I do recommend it. Also, No Country for Old Men. There´s a spanish actor, Javier Bardem, who is absolutely brilliant.

As I was saying, we´ve been in the flat all day and for some reason I´m not bored out of my mind. I´m reading a lot and I finally got Joan to begin reading ´The Five People You Meet in Heaven´ by Mitch Albom, it is thought-provoking and powerful yet it´s comforting and well thought-out. A must read.

Some exciting news was brought to my attention today, Joan has class with a girl from France. She works for this corporation...I´m really not sure but they throw this extravagant party that is promoted by a club in Paris and they invite people in the fashion industry, models agents and designers. This party will be in Barcelona in a couple months at this club called The Cat Walk. This girl told Joan if he knew of any beautiful girls he could invite and she would add them as his guests...well I told him he better just be bringing me haha but I told him how much I would love love love to bring my Sigma Kappa girls! Can any of you make it to Barcelona in March? Go to www.sohappyinparis.com and then get back to me! I have a lot to do before then......with models around, Good Lord!

Miss you all so much!
